What is endoscopy?
An endoscopy is a procedure used to examine the inside of your body using an instrument called an endoscope. An endoscope is a long, thin, flexible tube with a light and camera at the tip, allowing specialists to clearly view areas such as the stomach or bowel.
Endoscopy is a quick, safe and highly effective way to investigate symptoms, helping doctors identify issues such as bleeding, inflammation, ulcers, or unusual growths. It can also be used to detect early signs of cancer in the lower bowel, providing reassurance and guiding appropriate treatment.
